Siderasis fuscata, commonly known as Brown Spiderwort or Bears Ears, is a distinctive perennial plant native to southeastern Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro region. It has also become naturalized on Indonesia’s Java Island. This plant is renowned for its unique foliage: the leaves are dark green with a central silvery stripe on the upper side and deep purplish-red on the underside. The entire leaf surface is covered with fine, rust-colored hairs, giving it a velvety texture. In summer, it produces attractive, bluish-purple, three-petaled flowers that emerge from the center of the rosette.
